Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions Establishes Business Alliance with G+D Currency Technology

Tokyo, February 14, 2019 ---- Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions, Corp. today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Giesecke+Devrient Currency Technology GmbH (headquartered in Munich, Germany; “G+D Currency Technology”), the market and technology leader in advanced currency management solutions.
Under the agreement, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions has developed and designed the compact, high-performance banknote processing system C6 for the completion of the BPS®(*) system portfolio of G+D Currency Technology for the commercial market. With this alliance, both partners see potential to expand their business operations and to address markets globally.
G+D Currency Technology is a technology leader in advanced currency management for an efficient and secure currency cycle. The digital and physical solutions, products, and services provided by G+D Currency Technology have been safeguarding confidence in values worldwide for over 160 years. Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions offers excellent banknote processing technologies and products, and delivers highly reliable, high-performance cash recycling ATMs to countries in Asia and other regions around the world.
In 2017, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions entered the banknote processing systems business, and has since sought to expand its business operations into wide-ranging cash management improvement solutions that also cover the back-end operations of financial institutions, such as those at back-offices of branches and cash centers.
As the first stage of the new business alliance, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions supplies its BPS® C6 mid-range banknote processing system to G+D Currency Technology. The BPS® C6 banknote processing system offers high-level performance, excellent usability, and throughput of the fastest level, processing up to 1,200 banknotes per minute. It also offers excellent expansibility, enabling seamless integration of various software applications.
Moving forward, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions will strengthen the partnership and continue to work with G+D Currency Technology. One focus area will be the joint development of solutions aimed at increasing cash processing efficiency and reducing operating costs, another one addressing markets and customers globally.
